Dear Church Family:

I hope each of one of you is doing well. I am missing you!!

Your church staff, like you, continues to watch the evolving virus situation. Here at Eastside, we are committed to doing our part to help limit the spread of virus in this area. For that reason, based on the information that has been shared recently, we have decided to suspend all of our church activities through the end of April. With that in mind, there are a few things I want to share with you:

1) What we are doing

Your church staff continues to be available to you. Bill, Sandra, and I currently maintain some regular office hours. You can continue to call, text, email, or message us and we will respond to your need as we can. Since we cannot visit, we have been making phone calls and sending texts to try to keep in touch with you.

During this time, we continue to provide sermons and Bible studies online. In addition to this, we have started offering Sunday School lesson material. I realize many of you miss your Sunday morning Bible study time. We have also added short devotionals throughout the week. Hopefully, these have been an encouragement to you. Remember, you can access these videos in a couple of ways: on youtube through our church’s website (www.eastsidebaptist.com); our facebook page; on twitter (EBCmarianna); and instagram (ebc_marianna).

2) What you can do

Continue to pray!

Continue to give – this includes the tithe and the pledge for the new wing.

Even though we will not be present to receive your offering over the next couple of weeks, you can still give to support the ministries of this church in a number of ways. First, you can give online. There is an icon on our website which takes you directly to a secure place which will allow you to give. Second, you can mail a check to the church office. Third, you can bring a check by the church.

3) What should I do during this time?

- Pray for God to be merciful and gracious. Pray for His protection. Pray for our church, our community, our country. Paul reminds us in Philippians 4 that “in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).
- Be wise! Take the precautions that you need to take, considering not only yourself, but others.
- Check on each other. We are a family here at Eastside! Let’s make sure members of our family are doing ok.

Finally, as I close, allow me to say this. About a year and a half ago, this church and community faced another crisis. I learned three things about our church after Michael came through: 1) our church took care of each other; 2) our church ministered to this community; and, 3) by God’s grace, we made it through.

As we face another situation, I believe we will see those same three concepts emerge. Our church will look out for each other; our church will minister to this community; and, by God’s grace and strength, our church will get through this.

Dear Church Family:
As I am sure you have heard, we will be suspending all of our services and activities through the end of March.  This includes Sunday meetings: Sunday School, Sunday morning worship, and Sunday evening worship.  It also includes all Wednesday activities: supper, prayer, and Bible study.  Further, this impacts any children's and youth activities.  Certainly we will continue to monitor what  takes place over the next couple of weeks.  Our hope is to be able to pick up with our regular service on April 5th.  Please check the web site, our Twitter account, @EBC_Marianna, our Instagram account ebc_marianna.  During this time your church staff will be available to you.  You can call, text, e-mail or message us and we will respond to your need.  The church office will remain open for the near future.  Please continue to pray for the Doctors, Nurses and all first responders as they are on the front lines of this virus.  Praying for each of you!  See you s
oon!

Dear Church Family:
Just as a reminder, there will be no  Wednesday evening meal this week, March 18, 2020.  We will, however, have all other scheduled activities beginning at 6:00 PM.  Looking forward to seeing you Wednesday.

March 14, 2020
Dear Church Family:
In light of the Coronavirus updates, public schools and universities have closed for the next two weeks in order to keep the risk of exposure to a minimum.  Currently, we will be having normal church services, tomorrow, March 15, 2020.  If however, you are in a high risk category, the CDC has recommended limited exposure to large groups.  We will continue to monitor the situation and give you, our church family, updates as soon as we can.  Please continue to pray for our community.

March 12, 2020
As a follow-up to the announcement I made at the beginning of the service last Sunday morning, we want to let you know that we continue to monitor the situation related to the coronavirus (Covid – 19). Since that announcement last week, things have changed slightly in our region: many universities have stopped offering classes on campus and moved to offering classes online; health-care and rehab facilities are restricting visits; and other decisions are being made which affect various types of events where large numbers of people would be in attendance.
While we do not want to overreact, we do want our church family to know that we are doing everything we can to make sure our facility is as clean and safe as it can be. Here are some of the actions we are taking:
- Placed extra containers of hand sanitizer throughout the building.
- Enhanced the cleaning of door handles and other surfaces to help reduce the spread of germs.
- Encouraging folks to stay home if they are sick.
- Encouraging folks to take other measures to do what they can personally to limit the spread of germs.
At this time, we do not see the need to cancel or modify any of our services. However, we understand if you feel like you need to stay home at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation and give you, our church family, updates as soon as we can.
Let’s continue to pray for our church family. Let’s continue to pray for our community. Let’s continue to pray for our country and the world.
Thank you.
Your Church Staff
